Iran Executes 3 Women In Single Day For Same Offence
Iran has executed three women in a single day, for charges of murdering their husbands, informed an NGO, on July 29. According to activists, cases of women killing their husbands have increased in the recent times. Most of these women have abusive husbands or were married off as child brides. In 2022, at least 10 women have been hanged in Iran for the same offence.

Mentally Challenged Man Hanged In Singapore Over Decade-Old Drug Case
A 34-year-old mentally challenged man was hanged till death in Singapore, in connection with more than a decade-old drug case. Nagaenthran K Dharmalingam had been convicted of importing heroin; and he was subsequently sentenced to death in 2010. He was scheduled to be executed last year, but it was deferred after his mother had, in a last-ditch attempt, filed another legal challenge. But it could not overturn the death sentence.

Iran: Wrestler Executed for Killing Man During Anti-Government Protest
Iran informed that it has executed a 27-year-old wrestler Navid Afkari on September 12 for stabbing a man to death during an anti-government protest in 2018. Reportedly, Afkari had "confessed" to the crime before execution. The news came amid the ongoing efforts by athletes around the world that were aimed at stopping the execution. The International Olympic Committee said, "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Navid Afkari."
