The special cell of Delhi police has arrested the most wanted gangster "Kala Jatheri" and woman don "Anuradha" on July 30. Jatheri was active in multiple Indian states for offenses like extortion and Murder, while Anuradha was active in Rajasthan and was associated with kidnapping, extortion, and murder conspiracy. Police are probing for Jatheri's gang members who are apparently disseminated across various Indian states.
An FIR against senior IPS Param Bir Singh, five more police officers, and two others for extortion by the Mumbai Police said an official on July 22. In exchange for withdrawing cases against him, the accused allegedly demanded Rs 15 crores from a builder who then registered a complaint at the Marine Drive Police Station. Reportedly, the builder's two partners were also arrested for conspiring with the police.
Two men and a woman have been arrested by the crime branch of Delhi police, following a complaint of blackmailing filed by a South Delhi businessman. The woman through her spy camera recorded obscene videos of the businessman and later blackmailed him to pay Rs 1 crore. Reportedly, Raj Kishor Singh was the mastermind of the racket along with Aryan Dixit and Payal.

The Crime Branch of Delhi police has arrested the kingpin of a Sextortion racket Mewat-based criminal, Mohammed Barkat Ali in Gurgaon. However, the police is still looking for his associates in Mewat. Reportedly, the gang was luring people through fake female IDs, initiating sex chat on WhatsApp and would extort money through blackmailing. Besides, the police said selling fake cars and bikes on WhatsApp were the major tasks.

Migrant workers returning to their respective states have complained of extortion by Maharashtra police and transport services, as Maharashtra imposed a 15-day curfew. A migrant from Madhya Pradesh revealed that a traveller bus charged Rs 2500 to Rs 3000 per ticket only to desert them at the borders. Besides, the migrants were also seen crammed in jeeps entering MP which was allegedly overlooked by the Maharashtra police at the border.
Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, currently under scrutiny for corruption, has been summoned by the CBI for questioning scheduled on April 14. Suspended Mumbai police Sachin Vaze, in his exclusive letter to NIA, alleged that ex-Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh demanded Rs2 crore. Reportedly, the amount was to ensure Vaze's reinstatement into Mumbai Police against the NCP supremo Sharad Pawar's decision. In the ongoing investigation of actress Shamna Kasim's extortion and blackmail case, Kerala police summoned Malayalam actor Dharmajan, after finding out he was close to one of the accused. After ShamnaÔÇÖs case, 18 women have come forward with complaints of extortion. So far, nine FIRs have been registered. According to police, the accused are suspected members of gold smuggling and sex racket based in Kochi.
The main accused in the extortion and blackmailing case of Malayalam actress Shamna Kasim has been arrested and interrogated in Palakkad on June 27. According to the report, the accused Muhammad Shareef, along with four others attempted to extort money from the actress and her family in Kochi. Shamna is scheduled to record her statement today, June 28, through video conferencing.
