BJP Leaders Booked In Extortion Case In Delhi

An extortion case has been filed against two BJP leaders in Delhi, Siyaram Shakya and Dheeraj Pradhan, for allegedly demanding Rs 15 lakh from a businessman to let him construct his house. The FIR was lodged with the Dabri police station in Dwarka district on March 29. Pradhan is said to be the Mehrauli district vice-president of BJP, while Shakya is reportedly a local BJP leader.

Mumbai Crime Branch Arrests Vinay Singh: Param Bir Singh Extortion Case

The Mumbai Crime Branch, on December 16, arrested Vinay Singh, an absconding accused in the extortion case registered in July with Goregaon Police Station. Besides, Sachin Waze and Param Bir Singh are also accused in the case, which is now being investigated by the Crime Branch. Six cases of corruption and extortion were filed against Singh, following which he was removed from the Mumbai Police Commissioner's post on March 17.

Ex-Cop Param Bir Singh Appears Before Thane Police: Extortion Case Investigation

Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, on November 26, appeared before the Thane Police Station for interrogation in the extortion case registered against him.  The case has been registered under sections of IPC and the Arms Act. A District Commissioner of Police (DCP) level officer is investigating the case against Singh and 26 others. Param Bir Singh arrived at Thane Police Station at 7:45 AM and investigation is underway.

Former Mumbai Cop Param Bir Singh Questioned For "Six" Hours In Extortion Case

In the alleged extortion case, investigative officials questioned former Mumbai CP Param Bir Singh for six hours. Singh was earlier served with a notice stating to appear before the investigators at any time. Officials stated that the former police officer cooperated with the inquiry and answered all questions posed about the case. Singh was also believed not to have any proof or documents with him, according to reports.

Ex-Cop Param Bir Singh Reaches Mumbai; Says, 'Will Join The Probe'

Param Bir Singh, a former Mumbai police commissioner who has been declared a proclaimed offender by Mumbai High Court, arrived on November 25. Earlier, the IPS officer who is facing extortion charges in Maharashtra told news stations that he was in Chandigarh. Upon arrival, Singh told the reporters that he would join the probe as ordered by the High Court.

Param Bir Singh Is Still In India, Counsel Reveals In Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on November 22 granted protection from arrest to former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh, who was been missing since October and asked him to join investigations into extortion charges against him. Last week, the court declined to offer the former cop any such protection, demanding that he first needs to reveal his whereabouts. His lawyer stated that "he is not absconding, but faces threat in India".
