Tamil Nadu Govt Mandates Wearing Face Masks Amid Covid-19 Surge
Tamil Nadu government has announced to make wearing of masks mandatory in public places, in light of the surge in Covid-19 cases, on April 22. Reportedly, officials from the concerned department have been directed to enforce the rule, by imposing a fine of Rs 500 against violators. On April 21, 39 new COVID cases were reported in the state, taking the total number of active cases to 256.

Telangana Mandates Mask At Public Places; Imposes Rs 1,000 Penalty
In the wake of increasing COVID-19 cases, the Telangana government has directed the officials to impose Rs 1,000 penalty on people failing to wear face mask. On April 11, order mandated donning face mask in all public spaces, work spaces and all means of transport. Failing to abide by the aforementioned regulations, violators will be punished under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. The state recorded 3,187 COVID-19 cases on April 11.
