45M People Are On The Brink Of Starvation, Says UN Food Agency

The United Nations food agency, the World Food Programme (WEP), on November 8 said the number of people who are heading toward the brink of starvation has risen to 45 million across 43 countries in the world. ''We've got conflict, climate change, and COVID-19 driving up the numbers of the acutely hungry,'' said David Beasley, WEP Executive Director. Reportedly, $7 billion are needed to avert the global famine.

UN FAO Warns Yemen Of Probable Famine In 2021

UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization have said that around five million Yemeni people would be on the verge of facing famine in 2021. Moreover, FAO has tweeted that over half of Yemen might plunge into hunger. The UN organization stated an immediate response is needed as the UN aid funds only 49% to the cause. Reportedly, Yemen had been destroyed by the civil-war raised by Houthi rebels since 2014.

UN To Release $ 100M Emergency Fund For Seven Countries Amid Famine

UNs Humanitarian Office is set to release $ 100 million ‘emergency fund’ for seven countries on the verge of famine. While releasing $80 Million for Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Congo, Nigeria, Sudan, and Yemen, it has earmarked $20 million for war-struck Ethiopia.
