No Plans To Import Wheat From Different Countries, Clarifies Govt
Dismissing the reports of food grains import, the Union Government and Department of Food & Public Distribution said, India has no plans of importing wheat. On August 21, the government said, "The country has sufficient stocks to meet our domestic requirements and FCI has enough stock for public distribution". Although severe heat waves earlier this year affected crops, especially wheat, there is no shortage in India for people.

Reduce Edible Oil Import & Increase Local Production Of Rice Bran Oil, Says FCI
To reduce the country's dependency on import of edible oils, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) has recommended an increase in the local production of rice bran oil. Rice bran oil is one of the healthiest oils for people with a heart condition, said FSSAI. Dinesh Garg, Director of Aarti Extraction Pvt Ltd told ANI, "other oils are expensive and out of reach of common man".

FCI Urges Punjab To Provide Land Records; Eyes Direct Transfer Of MSP
The Punjab office of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) has asked the director of civil supplies and consumer affairs to furnish the land records of farmers. By making direct online transfer of MSP to farmers' bank accounts, the Centre has been considering to remove middlemen. However, the Arhtiya Association of Punjab have challenged this move in court. FCI Warehouses In Punjab, Haryana Raided By CBI
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched raids at 20 Food Corporation of India warehouses in the two states - Punjab and Haryana - and has seized samples of rice and wheat. Reportedly, the CBI is also checking the quality of the foodgrains stored in the warehouses. One of the officials stated the raid as a part of preventive vigilance to curb the corruption in places where public dealing occurs.
