Foreign Minister Jaishankar Meets Singapore's Finance & Health Minister
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on November 19 met with the Singapore Finance Minister and Health Ministers of the city-state in the country. At the meeting, Jainshankar exchanged views on the growth prospects of bilateral ties with Finance Minister Laurence Wong. Moreover, he also discussed ''Covid experiences and health security cooperation'' with Singapore's Health Minister One Ye Kung, according to reports.

Nirmala Sitharaman During US Visit Condemns Farmers Death In Lakhimpur
While answering a question at Harvard Kennedy School, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on October 13 said the Lakhimpur violence, where the farmers were killed, is ''absolutely condemnable''. Reportedly, she was asked why Prime Minister doesn't give his reaction on the incident. However, she stated that similar problems occur in other parts of India so questions should also be raised there without any political agenda.

Covid Drugs To Be Sold Under Concessional Rate: GST Council
The 45th meeting of the GST Council held in Lucknow, UP chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, announced GST exemption on expensive imported drugs like Zologensma and Viltetso on September 17. These drugs are unrelated to Covid treatment. The concessional rate of GST on Covid drugs will be continued till December 31. The council decided to increase the rate on locomotives and railway parts from 12% to 18%.

Centre Is Likely To Impose GST Over Petrol, Diesel
Amid the fuel prices has skyrocketed in India, a ministerial panel headed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will meet on September 15 to decide whether petroleum products should be considered under GST. Reportedly, the panel needs the approval of three-fourths of the panel to pass the proposal at the request of an Indian court. Moreover, it may extend the concessions on some drugs to provide relief to COVID-19 patients.

COVID Vaccination Can Boost Economy, Says Nirmala Sitharaman
Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Finance Minister, referred to vaccination as "medicine to boost the economy." At the Centenary celebration of Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank, she said, "about 73 crore people have been jabbed in India".
