The flood situation in Pakistan’s Balochistan continues to stay grim, with the Railways services having been suspended for 10 days. However, railway authorities are likely to extend the suspension, stating that the situation will mostly remain the same even after 15 days. This has come after, owing to floods, the Naseerabad railway track was washed away and Harak railway bridge was damaged.
Pakistan’s Finance Minister Miftah Ismail stated that the country has incurred a loss of at least USD 10 billion due to unprecedented flash floods. The loss has been inflicted on various sectors of the country’s economy. The figure quoted by Ismail is just an estimation, and after the assessments the amount is expected to escalate. In Himachal Pradesh's Kangra, a Chakki bridge collapsed, confirmed the Additional District Magistrate on August 21. In addition, a flash flood also hit the mandi region of the state, causing trouble to the residents, as water entered their houses and shops in the Kangra district. The Kangra ADM Rohit Rathore is supervising the situation and asked for the rescue of people in the low-lying region, affected due to floods.
In Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district, a landslide caused by heavy rains has resulted in the collapsing of a house, on August 20. The incident occurred at around 4:30 am in Chowari tehsil’s Barnet village, and has left three persons missing. A search operation has been initiated to rescue to missing persons. Meanwhile, flash floods occurred in Mandi district, causing water to enter into residents, shops and other buildings.
