Engine Shortage Leads To Cancellation Of Go First Flights
Go First Airlines have informed the DGCA that the flights will remain cancelled on May 3, 4 since more than half of its fleet is grounded. The cancellations are triggered by recurrent issues such as delays in supply of engines by Pratt & Whitney. Kaushik Khona said the airline has grounded 28 planes, more than half of its fleet, due to non-supply of engines by P&W, resulting in crunch.

SpiceJet Flights Impacted Due To Ransomware Attack
SpiceJet airlines fell victim to a ransomware attack, due to which, passengers were stranded at various airports and morning flight departures were impacted, on May 25. Cyclone Asani Continues To Disrupt Flight Services In Chennai & Vishakapatnam
Ranjith Bhasha, Collector of Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district, warned seafarers from venturing into the sea, in wake of cyclone Asani, on May 11. He further informed that heavy rainfall is expected between Vishakapatnam and Kakinada. Flight operations have been halted on May 11, in Vishakapatnam and Chennai. Reportedly, a total of 17 flights have been cancelled in Chennai, for a second consecutive day.

268 Flights Cancelled In 5 Days At Srinagar Airport Due To Poor Visibility
Amid poor visibility due to inclement weather, over 53 flights are being cancelled on a daily basis at the Kashmir's Srinagar airport for the last five days. A total of 268 flights were cancelled since January 4 including 134 from Srinagar to various destinations, airport spokesman said. Meanwhile, the disruptions have left travelers disappointed, especially tourists, many of whom have been stranded in the valley.

35 Flights Arrives At Srinagar After 2 Days Disruption
Following two days of disruption and cancellation of around 79 flights, 35 scheduled flights arrived at Srinagar International Airport on January 6. UK-Kolkata Flights To Be Suspended from Jan 3: Omicron Threat
The West Bengal Government has decided to suspend flight services between the United Kingdom (UK) and Kolkata. The flights will be suspended temporarily from January 3, keeping in view the prevailing situation, due to the rising number of Omicron cases. Reports said flights from at-risk countries will also be not allowed into the state, soon.

BCCI Assures Safe Travel Arrangements For International Players Post IPL
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has promised safe flight arrangements for the overseas players of IPL 2021 after the completion of the tournament. The decision came after Australian PM Scott Morrison announced a ban on all flights from India till May 15 with no travel priority for Australian players in the tournament. Recently, three Australian players announced to quit the IPL abruptly, citing "personal reasons".

Centre Directs Airlines To Refund For Tickets Cancelled During Lockdown
As many flyers have complained of not receiving the refund against the tickets cancelled during the lockdown, the Centre on April 7 asked all the airlines to resolve the issue sooner. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has also "expressed dissatisfaction" over the delayed refund of credit shells of passengers. However, IndiGo and GoAir airlines have told the ministry that they have refund all the dues to the passengers.

India To Resume Operations Of UK Flights From January 8
Clearing the doubts over the resumption of flights from the UK, India's Civil Aviation Ministry on January 1 stated the operations would resume from January 8. However, number of flights to and from the UK have been curtailed. Supreme Court Endorses DGCA's Credit Shell Method For Refunds
The Supreme Court on October 1 accepted DGCA's credit shell method to make refunds for cancelled flights during lockdown. According to the scheme, if airlines were not able to provide refunds, the amount concerned can be made available to the passengers through credit vouchers. Reportedly, the bookings that happened through agents will be refunded only by them.
