Zomato Delivery Boy Molests 19-Year-Old In Pune: Maharashtra

In Maharashtra’s Pune, a food delivery person allegedly molesting a girl on September 20. The accused, identified as Raees Shaikh went to deliver food to a 19-year-old girl on September 17. He reportedly asked her for water, and when she handed it over to him, he grabbed her and molested her. He reportedly kissed her twice on the cheek. A case under Sections 354 and 354 A has been filed.

Swiggy, Zomato Suffers Nationwide Outage; Social Media Flooded With Complaints

Zomato and Swiggy, India's two largest food delivery apps, suffered a nationwide outage, on April 6. The 30-min outage was reportedly caused by an Amazon Web Services snag, that several online platforms rely on. Social media was flooded with complaints from customers, stating that the apps are not functioning. Delivery partners also raised complaints saying that food was not able to be delivered due to the outage.

Swiggy Sets New Record, Receives 9,500 Orders Per Minute

Online food delivery platform Swiggy thanked its customers after it received 9,500 orders per minute, breaking the last record of 5,500 food orders per minute. The company made the record on new year's eve, on December 31. ''OPM reaches most 9,500 level by early dinner itself, which is almost 1.7x of last year's peak,'' said Swiggy. Reportedly, it shaw the jump of 80% in the number of new users.

Bengali Actor Trolled For Tagging PM Modi In Complaints About Swiggy

Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee turned to Twitter to publicly express his worries regarding food delivery applications on November 6. He penned an open letter and uploaded it on his Twitter account, complaining about a delay in one of his Swiggy orders. In the letter, he mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. His complaint was severely harassed by Twitter users, who mocked his problems.

US Airline Attempts To Enter Food & Meds Delivery Business: Mesa Air Group

Mesa Air Group Inc. is looking to enter the drone food delivery business with the purchase of four pilotless aircrafts from startup "Flirtey". The Phoenix- based regional carrier, has an option to buy 500 additional drones. The deal marks the first time a U.S. airline has attempted to break into the delivery business, and appealed to restaurants, pharmacies, and retailers as a potentially faster, cheaper way to deliver small parcels.

Zomato Launches Pro Plus Offering 'Unlimited Free Deliveries'

Zomato has launched the Zomato Pro Plus membership on August 2, which includes benefits like no surge fee, no distance fee, the facilities of the exiting pro membership, and ''unlimited free deliveries''. Sharing the news, the company's CEO, Deepinder Goyal tweeted “So in a few hours, we are launching our Limited Edition 'Pro Plus' membership for select customers.” However, regular customers can buy the membership using the app.

Zomato Lists For IPO Of Rs 8,250 Cr As It Logs Double Growth In 2020

Food delivery service giant Zomato is set to go public as its rapid growth has propelled it to file for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) worth Rs 8,250 crore. Currently having a $5.4-billion market value, Zomato's year-on-year revenue growth for FY2020 clocked double to around Rs 2,960 crore. Zomato has also renamed itself as Zomato Ltd. as a part of preparation to become a public limited company.

Zomato Introduces COVID Emergency Food Feature

Zomato on April 22 introduced a new feature that will now tag certain orders as 'COVID emergencies' and will give them priority in delivery. Besides being free of cost, the new feature will ensure contactless food delivery and provide dedicated customer support for such orders. The company said that it would be like a food ambulance service and has urged its users to not to misuse the feature.

Mumbai: Restaurants Allowed To Deliver Food After 11 PM on Dec 31

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on December 31 allowed the hotels and restaurants of Mumbai to remain open even after 11 PM. However, they can remain opened only till 1.30 AM and, above all, they can take orders only for home deliveries after 11 PM.
