Union minister Anupriya Patel has demanded a probe into the death of Varanasi football player Jyoti Patel who died in a hostel in Kolkata on April 4. In addition, Anupriya appealed for an impartial probe into the mysterious death of the national-level player. Notably, Patel also expressed his deep condolences to the family of the deceased and assured them of all the possible help.

In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old Algerian footballer, Sofiane Loukar, died of a heart attack after colliding with his goalkeeper during a match in Oran, on December 25. Reportedly, Loukar continued his game despite the collision but he collapsed a few minutes after receiving treatment for the collision. Therefore, he was sent to hospital but suffered a deadly heart attack on the way. The match was also abandoned. 

Former French footballer Jean-Pierre Adams passed away in Nimes on September 6. Reportedly, Adams was in a coma for over 39 years after getting seriously injured while playing for Chalon in 1982. Adams was born in Senegal and Football was his passion since childhood. In 1970, Nimes spotted his passion, way before he became a professional player. He also won 22 caps for Les Bleus between 1972-1976.

Popularly known by his nickname, Der Bomber was suffering from Alzheimer since 2015. “Today is a sad, black day for Bayern and all of its fans,” said Bayern president Herbert Hainer.
