Amazon Rainforest Emits Billion Tonnes Of CO2 A Year: Scientists
Scientists have discovered that the Amazon rainforest is emitting more CO2 than it absorbs. The study reported that a billion tonnes of CO2 are emitted by the Amazon rainforest every year. "Forest burning produces around three times more CO2 than the forest absorbs," said Luciana Gatti, who led the research. 30% of deforestation shows 10 times higher CO2 emission than deforestation which is lower than 20%, said Gatti.

Wildfires, Farming, Ranching Increase Deforestation By 17% In Amazon
Amazon rainforests have lost scores of green cover as deforestation increased by 17% in 2020. A University of Maryland report pointed that around 2.3 million acres of land, equivalent to El Salvador, has lost the forest cover. Losing over 1.5 million hectares of primary forest, Brazil accounted for the highest deforestation while Bolivia and Peru followed next. India To Recoup 26 Million Hectares of Green Cover By 2030: Javadekar at UN
Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said that India aims to rejuvenate 26 million hectares of degraded and deforested land in next decade.
