Forest Department To Construct 68 Water Reservoirs In South Kashmir
The Forest Department will build up to 68 water reservoirs in all of the districts of South Kashmir, That will benefit the ecosystem, locals, and hikers. Irfan Ali Shah, Conservator of Forest South Kashmir, disclosed that Forest Department will build additional water reservoirs under the CAMP program and CAPEX budget. According to Shah, an eco-tourist hut that will serve as a rest stop for Kunsar Nag Kulgam hikers is being built shortly.

Fire Flares Out In The Margana Forest Region Of Udhampur, J&K
A fire started out in Chenani's Margana forest region, in the Udhampur district of Jammu & Kashmir late at night on May 19. Authorities from the forest department, the fire department, and the emergency personnel worked together to put out the fire. Additional information is forthcoming. On May 17, a major fire burst out in Jammu and Kashmir's Niaka, Panjgrain, and Ghambir Mughlan forest regions.

Langoor Cut Out To Solve Money Problem In Meerut: Forest Department
Amid the complaints of an increasing number of monkeys, troubling the people of Meerut, the Forest Department announced to experiment, langoor cut out to scare monkeys. Divisional Officer Rajesh Kumar said, "We have achieved some good results. We will make some changes so that we can prepare to use cut-outs in public places". Notably, a similar trick to scare monkeys away has been used at Lucknow metro station, providing relief.

Leopard Rescued By Forest Dept In Palghar District: Maharashtra
Forest department in collaboration with Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), rescued a leopard which strayed into a village adjoining Palghar district, on March 30. Reportedly, the leopard was spotted by the villagers four days ago, after which, the police were alerted. The big cat reportedly didn't kill any person. However, it did kill four dogs. Following the rescue, the leopard was treated for its wounds, reported PTI.

Forest Department Rescues 700 Caged Exotic Birds in Trichy: Tamil Nadu
In Tamil Nadu's Trichy, Forest Department officials conducted a raid against the illegal trade of exotic birds on March 12. The officials rescued more than 600 green parrots and 100 starling birds which were kept in cages and will be released in the forest areas. "The accused who were engaged in the illegal trade of the exotic birds will be fined under the Wildlife Protection Act," said Assistant Forest Ranger.

Forest Dept Fines 3 Farmers For Catching Wild Boars In UP
A fine of Rs 50,000 was imposed on three farmers by the forest department for catching wild boars in Sherpur, Uttar Pardesh. An official said that farmers were illegally catching wild boars from fields, following which they were fined. Meanwhile, union leader Mange Ram Tyagi protested against the fine, and said, catching boars were necessary, in view of damage to their crops. He asked the department to stop "harassing" the farmers.

Forest Personnel Arrest 3 Persons For Possession Of Tiger Teeth And Nails: MP
Forest personnel arrested three persons for possession of tiger teeth and nails. Reportedly, two canine teeth and 13 nails of a tiger were seized from their possession in MP's Umaria district. Officials said that the forest officials intercepted a motorcycle of said persons, and found the canine teeth and nails, following which a case was registered. Further investigation on the matter is underway.

Leopard Spotted In CCTV In Lucknow's Gudumba Area
In a shocking incident, a leopard was spotted in CCTV footage in Lucknow's Gudumba area, on December 25 at around 4:12 am. The CCTV footage was installed at a private hospital in which the feline was seen staying at the location for eight minutes. ''After this, the leopard was seen moving in the bylanes,'' said Aniket Ani, the hospital owner. However, the forest department has launched a search operation.

Jammu & Kashmir Gets Forest Martyrs Memorial
The Commissioner-Secretary of Forest Department Sanjeev Verma inaugurated a memorial to hours ''martyrs of the forest department'' in Jammu and Kashmir, on December 24. On the occasion, a ceremonial guard of honour was also presented by the contingents of the forest protection force, foresters, and brass band of Border Security Force (BSF). Besides, a passing out parade of 31 Forest guards was also organised here, reported PTI.
