Formula 1600 To Make Comeback In MRF National Racing Championship

The MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Car Racing Championship is scheduled for September 25 at the MMRT. Around 9 car races and about 76 competitions are lined up for the event. Making comeback on track after the pandemic, the highlight of the event is going to be the MRF Formula 1600 class. However, Formula LGB 1300, Volkswagen's 22 VW Polo cars will also be on the lookout.

The Ferrari Driver Academy is all set to have its first female member named Maya Weug. The 16-year-old Dutch girl got selected through the "Girls on Track-Rising Stars" program. Winning a five-day scouting camp, Weug will be awarded a season in the Formula Four Championship. Expressing his joy about Weug's induction, Formula One Team Boss Mattia Binotto said, "This is a key moment in the history of Scuderia Ferrari and its academy."

UK Honours 7-Time F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton With Knighthood

Britain has awarded F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton a knighthood under the UK New Year's honours list. The seven-times world champion was honoured for his "charitable and philanthropic contributions in the UK and overseas". As F1's only Black driver, Hamilton has also campaigned against racial injustice. Hamilton is the fourth F1 driver to receive the award and the only one to receive the honour while still racing.

In a first-ever instance, an all-Indian racing team is gearing up to compete in the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series scheduled in February, 2021. The Indian team would be led by Narain Karthikeyan alongside Arjun Maini and Naveen Rao. "This is probably the most exciting project in my career as a racing driver," Karthikeyan stated. Abu Dhabi will be hosting the series at the Yas Marina Circuit on February 5-6 and February 19-20.
