Odisha Govt Announces Free Coaching To SC, ST Students: Chatra Protsahan Yojana
Students belonging to the SC and ST communities will be eligible for free coaching under the new Chatra Protsahan Yojana, which was introduced by the Odisha government on October 5. The coaching will target Medical and Engeneering entrance examinations. The students will be selected on the basis of class 10th merit list. About 320 students will be selected for the scheme.

AP's Govt Identifies 4,033 Child Orphaned Due To Covid-19
In a step to ensure free education to orphaned children due to COVID-19, the Andhra Pradesh Education Department has submitted its list on August 19, identifying 4,033 children who lost their parents to Covid-19. Among the 4,033 children, 2150 are from private schools, 1,659 belong to government schools and 524 are infants. Notably, Supreme Court had already given directions to ensure free education to such children.

Delhi Govt To Give Rs 50,000 To Families Of COVID Victims
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on May 18 announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 to families of COVID-19 victims and monthly pension of Rs 2,500 to families that lost their only earning member. Besides, children who became orphans will be given Rs 2,500 till the age of 25 along with free education. CM Kejriwal also stated poor people without ration cards can also avail free monthly ration without showing income certificate.

Sonu Sood Urges Centre For Free Education To Kids Turned Orphans During COVID
In yet another humanitarian effort, Bollywood actor-cum-philanthropist Sonu Sood has requested the Centre and charities to provide free education to children who became orphans during the pandemic. In his Instagram video, Sood suggested to make it a rule to provide free-of-cost education to the children in both private and public institutions. The video has crossed one-million views mark and has been shared by several celebrities.

Haryana Govt Schools To Provide Free Education From Classes 9-12
Under Rs 1.55 lakh crore budget presented on March 12, Haryana Chief Minister and Finance Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced free education for classes 9 to 12 in government schools. For 2021-22, Khattar allocated Rs 18,410 crore for education, 17.8% higher than 2020. Indore Cop Teaches Slum Kids Pro Bono During Pandemic
In a unique endeavour, an Indore cop Sanjay Sanwre is imparting pro bono tuitions near Lalbagh palace to slum children who couldn't afford to attend online classes owing to the pandemic. Reportedly, around 40 students attend his classes every Sunday. Moreover, he offers free stationery materials to children who attend the class. Sanware said, "We are trying that these children will not have to face what we faced in our childhood".
