Rohan Bopanna & Matwe Middelkoop Defeat Wimbledon Champions At French Open
Rohan Bopanna and Matwe Middelkoop averted five match points to defeat Mate Pavic and Nikola Mektic, the defending Wimbledon champions, at Roland Garros on May 28. Bopanna, therefore, matched his best result at the clay-court major by entering the quarterfinals. Later, Bopanna teamed up with Slovenia's Andreja Klepac to win the mixed doubles tournament effortlessly against America's Asia Muhammad and Britain's Lloyd Glasspool.

No.27 Amanda Anisimova qualified for the fourth round after Karolina Muchova retired from the match due to an ankle ailment. After the medical intermission, Muchova conceded seven consecutive games before quitting the match.

Rafael Nadal & Novak Djokovic Through To Second Round Of 2022 French Open
Rafael Nadal, the 13-time French Open winner, defeated Australian Jordan Thompson in the first round at Roland Garros on May 23, claiming his 299th Grand Slam victory. Novak Djokovic defeated Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan in the first round of the French Open 2022. In a second-round match against French wild card Corentin Moutet, the Spaniard will attempt to join Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the 300-plus club.

Novak Djokovic defeated 13-time champion Rafael Nadal in French open, on June 11. Notably, it was Nadal's first defeat in 14 semi-finals in the French Capital and third in 16 years and 108 matches in the French Open. Djokovic had defeated Nadal earlier in the 2015 tournament to become the first person to win four Slams twice. Djokovic will now face off against Stefanos Tsitsipas, on June 13.

Russian Tennis Player Yana Sizikova Arrested In Match-Fixing Case
Russian tennis player Yana Sizikova, a doubles contender in the ongoing French Open, was arrested on June 4 in connection with a match-fixing scandal of 2020. According to sources, Sizikova allegedly conceded three points in her 2020 French Open game which ended up in a 7-6 loss. Currently under investigation, the 26-year-old might face a five-year imprisonment and over Rs 4-crore fine if found guilty.

Naomi Osaka Quits French Open Mid-Tournament, Says She Needs Break
Japanese Tennis star Naomi Osaka on May 31 withdrew from the French Open 2021 tournament stating that she needs a break from the sport. This comes after Osaka was fined Rs 10 lakh for not attending the mandatory news conference following her victory over Romania's Maria Patricia Tig. Citing her mental health as well, the 23-year-old had compared such post-match conferences to "kicking people when they are down".

French Open Women's Singles: Iga Swiatek Becomes First Polish to Win a Grand Slam
Iga Swiatek outlasted Sofia Kenin 6-4, 6-1 in the finals of the French Open to become the first Polish to win a Grand Slam title. Though Iga stumbled slightly at the beginning, she gradually gained pace to take down the American, who was hampered by a thigh injury.
