Argentinian tennis player Nadia Podoroska reached the semi finals of French Open 2020, after taking down the third seed Elina Svitolina by 6-2, 6-4 on Court Philippe Chatrier. The 23-year-old is the third qualifier in the open era to reach semis in any major tournament. “We did a very good job with my coaches during the quarantine. That’s why I’m here today,” said Podoroska.

Rafael Nadal entered the quarterfinals of French Open after defeating US' Sebastian Korda 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 on October 4. Reportedly, he entered the quarterfinals for a record 14th time. The Spaniard converted eight of eleven break points in the match, which lasted for one hour 55 minutes. "I am happy to be in the quarterfinals again and now I have another very tough match, for sure," said Nadal.

World Number one Novak Djokovic has moved into the last 16 of the French Open after defeating Daniel Galan 6-0, 6-3, 6-2 in round three at Roland Garros. Due to heavy rain, the game was put to a halt and resumed only after the retractable roof was closed and slimy clay ground was fixed. The Serb cruised ahead of Roger Federer on the leaderboard with his 71st French Open match win.

The French Open on October 2 witnessed a 19-year-old Clara Burel defeating Slovenian Kaja Juvan 7-6(6), 6-2 in the second round at Roland Garros. Burel became the youngest French player in past twelve years to reach the third round of the event. Burel, who was earlier defeated by Juvan in the 2018 Youth Olympics final, said, "I’m really happy that I took my revenge today."

Victoria Azarenka was beaten by Anna Karolina Schmeidlova with 6-2, 6-2 in the second round of the French Open on September 30. The 161-seeded Slovak stunned the US Open runner-up who made 37 unforced errors. Despite the slip fall on her left knee, Anna remained unaffected, and she eased through for a win. She took down Venus Williams in her first round and is set to face Nadia Podoroska.
