Mahatma Gandhi Never Won Nobel Prize, Here's Why

On October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, let's recall the father of the nation and one of the freedom fighters of India, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi known as "Bapu." Interestingly, Mahatma Gandhi never won any Nobel Prize award. Despite being the symbol of non-violence, and peace, he never received the award, even though he was nominated five times. The major reason is that he didn't fit into the traditional Nobel prize criteria.

Central Govt To Launch Seva Pakhwada Starting From September 17 In India

World's Largest National Flag Made By Khadi Unfurled In Leh

In an unprecedented manner, the world's largest flag made up of Khadi, was unfurled by Lieutenant Governor R K Mathur in Leh on October 2. Reportedly, the Indian flag weighs 1000 kg and measures 225 feet by 150 feet.  Army Staff Chief M M Naravane and Lieutenant General Y K Joshi, and other senior officials also attend the ceremony with about 500 people.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi, PM Narendra Modi visited Raj Ghat in Delhi and paid floral tribute to 'Bapu' on October 2. Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, at Gujarat's Porbandar. He is known for leading India's freedom struggle against Britishers and set India free in 1947. ''I bow to respected Bapu on Gandhi Jayanti,'' said PM Modi.

Indian Embassy In Madagascar Goes 'Clean And Green' On Gandhi Jayanti

Celebrating Gandhi Jayanti, Madagascar Prime Minister Christian Ntsay on October 2 inaugurated a solar power plant at the Indian Embassy in Antananarivo. Reportedly, this is the first clean and green Indian Embassy, globally. The Embassy is said to be equipped with a 8KW solar power plant, installed by Vision Madagascar. While lauding the efforts of the Indian embassy, Ntsay said, "India is showing us that it is possible to change."
