HC Criticises Lower Court's Observation In FIR Against MLA Jignesh

Gauhati High Court said according to Barpeta court state police for lodging a 'False FIR' against Jignesh Mevani, supported by congress, and ordered granting bail. Justice Debashis Barua said the observations of the lower court are beyond the jurisdiction and crossed all limits. Assam police arrested Jignesh on April 19 in Gujrat after FIR against him for his Tweet on Prime Minister. Next hearing is on May 27.

Limiting Movement Of Unvaccinated People Arbitrary: Gauhati HC

Gauhati HC calls the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Mizoram government to limit the movement of unvaccinated people ''unreasonable and arbitrary.'' In its SOP issued on June 29, the govt had said that all unvaccinated people will be restricted to leave their houses or earn their livelihood by working in shops, stores, etc. The SOP does not fall under the provisions of Article 14, 19, and 21 of the Constitution.
