Iranian Girls Given Poisoned Water To Stop Education
In order to stop girls going school, thousands of girls were poisoned, in Iran. On February 26, Iranian deputy minister Youns Panahi said "some people" were poisoning schoolgirls in the holy city of Qom with the aim of shutting down education for girls. Iran is facing protests after 22-year-old's death, which was under custody for violations of strict dress code of women in Iran, causing issues for girls.

Odisha To Implement Gender Equality Programs In Over 20,000 Government Schools

Rajasthani Bride Rides Horse On Pre-wedding Ritual To End 'Gender Gap'
In Rajasthan's Ranoli village, Sikar district, a family allowed their daughter, Kritika Saini, to ride a horse to mark the pre-wedding ritual of 'Bandori' to promote gender equality in society. The incident was reported on November 29 and Saini also wore a sherwani, a pagdi. Reportedly, she is a fashion designer and had designed the sherwani by herself. Kritika got married to Manish Saini on December 1.

India Ranks 140th In WEF's Gender Gap Index 2021, Slips By 28 Spots
India has fallen down to the 140th place in the World Economic Forum's Gender Gap Index 2021. Notably, the decline took place in indicators like political representation, economic participation and labor force participation rate. Shockingly, India also became the third worst performer in the South-Asia, only ahead of Pakistan (153rd) and Afghanistan (156th) in the 156-nation list. Women In Nepal Run Carrying Husbands On Back; Sets Example Of Equality
Setting an example of gender equality, women in Nepal's Devghat village raced 100 meters carrying their husbands on their backs. Reportedly, the race was organized by the village council to mark International Women's Day and featured 16 couples.
