14th Century Indo-Persian Sword Among 7 Artefacts Returned To India By UK Museum

A Glasgow-based museum has signed an agreement with India to repatriate seven Indian artefacts including a historic 14th century Indo-Persian sword. The transfer of ownership ceremony took place at Kelvingrove art gallery and museum, in the presence of Indian High Commission officials. This has come after Glasgow City Council administration gave the nod to a request made in April for the repatriation of 51 items to India, Nigeria, etc.

COP27 Climate Summit To Be Held In Egypt In 2022

The Ministry of Environment of Finland on November 13 announced that the next United Nations Climate Conference, COP27 will be organised in Egypt in 2022. The COP26 was held in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12. The main motive of the summit was to fulfill the goals set in the Paris Agreement in 2015, which focused on greenhouse emission reduction, global warming, climate finance and carbon neutrality.

Centre Launches 'E-Amrit' During COP26 Summit, Glasgow

E-Amrit, a web portal on electric vehicles was launched by the Central Government during the COP26 Summit in Glasgow, United Kingdom. It is reported to be the single point of contact for all information about electric vehicles including purchase, investment opportunities, guidelines, and subsidies of electric vehicles. Notably, more features were reported to be added to the portal to make it user-friendly and interactive.

Over 100 Countries Promise To End Deforestation By 2030: COP26

In the COP26 climate talks held in Glasgow on November 1, over 100 countries promised to end deforestation and land degradation by the end of 2030. ''We will have a chance to end humanity's long history as nature's conqueror, and instead become its custodian,'' said UK PM Boris Johnson. Reportedly, forests help to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 30%, preventing the climate from getting warm.

'Controlling Carbon Emissions Should Be First Priority': India

India on October 27, rejected its decision to announce "net zero carbon emissions target", given by Glasgow Climate Summit, and said it is more important to plan the reduction of carbon dioxide causing global warming. India which is considered to be world's third biggest carbon emitter after china, is under pressure to become carbon neutral by mid-century. However the country is planning to decrease the amount of emissions for now.
