Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra once again created history, after he won the Diamond League Trophy in Javelin throw event. On September 8, the Tokyo Olympian secured the first position in the prestigious Diamon League finals, with 88.44 m throw. With this, he became the first Indian to secure the title and bring India trophy. Neeraj Chopra has been a star name in Indian sports in Olympic, Asian & Commonwealth Games.

Indian Hockey Stalwart Varinder Singh Passes Away At 75
Hockey Star, an Olympian and World Cup medallist Varinder Singh (75) passed away on June 28, in Jalandhar. The prestigious Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award holder, a gold-medalist and pride of hockey stalwart participated in the 1975 men's Hockey World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, the only gold medal win of India. He was also in Olympic events winning bronze in 1972 and silver in 1973 matches for India.

Haryana Boxer Nitu Ghanghas Eyes Boxing World Championship 2022
Nitu Ghanghas, a 21-year-old boxer from Haryana is eying to participate in the upcoming 2022 Boxing World Championship, scheduled in May. Notably, she won the Strandja Boxing Tournament (under 48 kg category), held last week in Sofia. Now, Nitu wants to focus on the world championship and work on strengths/weaknesses with her coaches and said, "I want to put my full focus on it and win gold there (world championship)".

Chennai Super Kings Gifts Rs 1 Cr & Special Jersey To Neeraj Chopra
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) gifted Rs 1 crore to Neeraj Chopra for winning a gold medal in men's javelin at the Tokyo Olympics on October 31 in New Delhi. CSK's CEO Kasi Viswanathan also gifted a special jersey to Chopra printed with the number 8758 on it. The number represents Chopra's throw of 87.58m. ''Thank you so much for your support and for the prize,'' said Neeraj.

Olympics' Gold Medal Swimmer Madison Wilson Hospitalized For Covid-19
Gold Medalist Australian Swimmer Madison Wilson recently tested positive for Covid-19, despite being double-vaccinated. She has been shifted to a hospital facility for treatment and quarantine. Wilson took to Instagram and wrote, “I am taking some time to rest, and I am sure I’ll be ready to bounce back in no time." As a result, she also withdrew her participation from the International Swim League competition in Naples, Italy.

19-Year-Old Paralympics Gold Winner To Be Awarded Rs 6 Crore
After winning Gold and Silver in the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 on September 4, the Haryana government has announced to award Gold Medalist Manish Narwal with Rs 6 crore and Silver Medalist Singhraj Adhana with Rs 4 Crore. The 19-years-old Narwal has become the third Indian to win gold. Moreover, both the para-athletes will be provided with a government job as an honor to their achievements, said Haryana CM.

Tokyo Olympics: Delhi Govt To Offer Rs 3 Crore To Gold-Medal Winners
To boost the morale of athletes participating in the Tokyo Olympics, the Delhi government has decided to grant prize money of three crore rupees to the Gold-medal winners from Delhi. Silver-medal winners will be rewarded with two crore rupees, while Bronze-medal winners will receive one crore rupees. The four athletes participating from Delhi are Deepak Kumar, Manika Batra, Amoj Jacob, and Sarthak Bhambri.

Sole Survivor Of 1948 & 1952 Hockey Olympics, Keshav Datt Passes Away
Hockey legend Keshav Datt, who won Gold-medal two times in the Olympics, has passed away on July 7. The 95-year-old suffered age-related issues and is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter. "He was the lone surviving member of the 1948 and 1952 Olympic Games and today truly feels like the end of an era," said Hockey India President Gyanendro Ningombam.
