Police Arrests 4 People From Mumbai-Bhubaneshwar Train, Seizes Gold

Government Railways police seized 32kg of gold jewellery worth Rs 16 crores, from Mumbai-Bhubaneshwar Konark express on March 2. The GRP arrested 4 people, carrying the gold worth crores. The police officer added, they were suspicious of four men (Hasmukh Lal Jain, Suresh Sahadev Kharey, Mahesh Bhonsale and Deepak Patel) veiling the train and when checked their bags found gold without valid GST documents. Further investigation underway.

Custom Department Seizes Gold Worth Rs 1.36 Crore At Hyderabad Airport

The Customs officials, at the Hyderabad Airport, seized 2175.800 grams of gold worth Rs 1.36 Crore. Gold Chains and paste have been recovered from a passenger who arrived from Dubai, on January 21. The valuable items were concealed in his hand-in bag and check-in luggage, recovered from the man during an interception by the officials. The Hyderabad customs department had put out a tweet sharing the details of the seizure.

India's Ajay Singh Wins Gold Medal In Commonwealth Weightlifting C'ships

Ajay Singh, an Indian weightlifter, bagged the gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in the men's 81kg category on December 12 in Uzbekistan's Tashkent. The win also secured Singh's entry for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Earlier on December 11, Hazarika Popy won silver in the women's 59 kg category. The Championships started on December 7 and will end on December 17.

India Wins 6 Medals On 1st Day Of Asian Youth Para Games

In Bahrain at the Asian Youth Para Games 2021, India won six medals on the first day of the game, on December 3. Kashish Lakra earned gold medal in Shot Put Throw. Ananya Bansal and Vikas Bhatiwal bagged silver in Shot Put too. Sanjay Reddy Neelam and Bennet Biju George clinched Bronze Medals in Shot Put and in running, respectively. Another bonze medal was won by Laxit in Javelin.

Telangana CM Annouces To Donate Over 1 Kg Gold To Yadadri Temple

The CM of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao on October 19 announced to personally donate 1 kg and 16 tolas of gold to meet the target of 125 kg of gold for the renovation of the Yadari temple. Duo Brother Arrested Under Kerala Fashion Jewellery Scams: Chennai

A jewellery store in Chennai that goes by the name Kerala Fashion Jewellery allegedly swindled gold deposits worth Rs. 26 crores, cheating around 1,689 customers between 2016-19. Duo Brother Sujith Cherian and Sunil Cherian applied for bail and argued that it was a false campaign by vested companies that led to the closure of their gold stores. However, the court denied citing the possibility of "tampering of evidence."
