Two Members Quit Foreign Press Association Citing Toxic Work Environment
Two members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association left the organization, calling it a "toxic environment for professional journalists." Diederik van Hoogstraten of the Netherlands and Wenting Xu of China resigned from the HFPA board. In the letter, they criticized the organization's effort, calling it "simply a show off for the public." Earlier this year, the HFPA received a lot of criticism from netizens for lacking diversity.

Tom Cruise Returns His Golden Globe Awards As Protest Against HFPA
Actor Tom Cruise became the latest celebrity to join protest against Hollywood Foreign Press Association as he returned his three Golden Globe awards. Cruise had won them for best actor in 'Born On The Fourth Of July' (1990), 'Jerry Maguire' (1997) and best supporting actor in 'Magnolia' (2000). The protest opposes the lack of diversity in the HFPA. Besides, NBC has also denied from airing Golden Globes 2022.

HFPA Faces Ire As Scarlett Johansson Urges Hollywood Industry To Boycott It
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has come under fire for its lack of diversity as it is devoid of any black member for the last 20 years. Recently, reforms were announced to tackle diversity issues by the HFPA but were met with criticism. Leading Hollywood actor Scarlett Johansson has also said that the association members have a tendency to be sexist and requested people to "step back" from the HFPA.

10 Indian Films Nominated For Golden Globes; Southern India Shines
Ten Indian movies have made it to the Best Foreign Film category for the 2021 Golden Globe Awards. Interestingly, three of the movies belong to the southern India - actor Dhanush starrer Asuran and Suriya's Soorarai Pottru from Tamil cinema; and Oscar nominee Jallikattu from Malayalam cinema.
