Rs 75 Coin To Be Launched On May 28, Marking Parliament Inauguration
To commemorate the launch of the new parliament building, the Union Government announced to launch a Rs 75 coin. The Union Finance Ministry issued a notification and confirmed the launch of the coin, which will be of 35 gm, 44 mm in diameter. The front side of the coin will feature the Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar with ‘Satyamev Jayate’ written. The coin will be launched on May 28.… read-more

GoI Distance Itself From Hindenburg-Adani Issue, Says Nothing To Do

Central Govt Approves Hike In DA, DR For Govt Employees In India
India’s cabinet has approved a hike in Dearness Allowance (DA), to provide relief for government employees, especially during festive season. On September 28, the BJP-led GoI approved a DA hike of 4% for 4.7 million employees of the central government, while 6.8 million pensioners will get Dearness Relief (DR). The DA and DR amount were long awaited by the Central Government employees in India.

Flying Likely To Be Expensive As Govt To Remove Cap On Fares
The Government of India is set to lift the cap on domestic airfare prices after more than two years, from August 31. With this, flying can be expensive, especially domestic flights, likely to impact all flyers. The move is designed to allow airlines more flexibility to raise fares, in an environment where fuel costs - the primary factor determining cost of air travel - are uncomfortably high.

Govt To Propose Amended Data Protection Bill 2021, After Withdrawn In 2019
The government is set to introduce Data Protection Bill (Amended) 2022, after withdrawing the previous one. On August 3, the House of Parliament introduced the new bill with 81 amendments, for passing it in the Lok Sabha. Notably, the 2019 bill was introduced to regulate the use of personal data of individuals by the government and companies, in India. In 2019, the bill was withdrawn after protests of the opposition.

Govt Approves Electoral Bonds For Political Parties, Aims Transparency
The Central Government approved the issuance of the 21st tranche of electoral bonds, pitched as an alternative to cash donations made to political parties. The electoral bonds would help bring transparency in political funding, avoiding bribes and favours. The State Bank of India (SBI), has been authorised to issue and encash electoral bonds through its 29 authorised branches. The new arrangement is in effect from July 1 to July 10.

Govt Issues Orders, Appoints IAS Parameswaran Iyer As NITI Aayog CEO
Parameswaran Iyer, the former Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary is now the new CEO of Niti Aayog, confirmed Union Government on June 24. He will succeed Amitabh Kant, whose tenure is scheduled to end on 30 June, and will hold the position for two-years.
