WB Govt Plans To Give Rs 10,000 For School Students To Buy Tabs
The West Bengal government has decided to transfer Rs 10,000 to the bank accounts of 9.5 lakh students of class 12 to buy smart devices for online learning. Earlier, the state government had decided to give smart tablets to students. However, the idea has been dropped since they could not procure numerous devices within a short period. CM Mamata Banerjee has assured the grant would be transferred within three weeks.

Government Schools In Delhi To Use Solar Electricity; Expected To Save 8.8 Crore
Around 150 government schools in Delhi to use solar systems under the central government's scheme for building solarisation. The scheme is expected to elevate the income through selling the electricity generated by the solar plates and reduce electricity bills. According to the reports, about 21 megawatts (MW) solar connection has been installed and is expected to save about Rs 8.8 crore in bills and shall earn about Rs 8.56 crore.

180 Govt Schools To Be Modernized By Srinagar District Authorities
To improve learning standards in government-run schools, Srinagar district administration has decided to upgrade 180 schools as "smart schools". The initiative will be undertaken under the Jammu and Kashmir government's 'Back to Village' campaign. With this, the schools will get modern learning tools and amenities such as smart classes and IT labs. In the first phase, the project will be implemented in 25 schools in Srinagar urban region.

Tamil Nadu: Governor Approves Reservation For Govt. School Students In Medical Colleges
Tamil Nadu's ordinance which aims to provide reservation for Government school students in medical colleges, has been accorded the 'law' status after approval by the Governor. This will provide a reservation of 7.5% which results in almost 300 seats in medical colleges being reserved for students from government schools who clear NEET, the medical entrance exam. Reportedly, the law is applicable from this academic year itself.

Govt School Students In Bengal To Get Masks From Handloom Weavers Society
The co-operative society of handloom weavers, Tantuja, has decided to provide almost 1.5 crore masks to government school students in West Bengal. The initiative came after the state government made it mandatory for students to wear masks before availing the mid-day meal ration from school. Reportedly, the co-operative has roped in the self-help groups and individual manufacturers for producing the masks.
