Serena Williams Retires Early From Wimbledon After Ankle Injury
Seven-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams withdraws from the game on June 29 due to an ankle injury. Williams left the court in tears after her dream of winning her eighth Grand Slam Singles and equalling Margaret Court's record ended. As she was leading with a 3-1 in the first set of her first-round with Aliaksandra Sassnovich, Williams slipped. She left early for medical attention calling it to quit after a 3-3.

World Champion Novak Djokovic defeated Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas to win his second French Open as well as 19th Slam. However, Djokovic's next target is to complete all four major Grand Slam and create history after Don Budge and Rod Laver. "Obviously his goal and our goal is to win the Olympics and then win the Grand Slam. That would be the absolutely top of this year," said coach Marian Vajda.

French Open Women's Singles: Iga Swiatek Becomes First Polish to Win a Grand Slam
Iga Swiatek outlasted Sofia Kenin 6-4, 6-1 in the finals of the French Open to become the first Polish to win a Grand Slam title. Though Iga stumbled slightly at the beginning, she gradually gained pace to take down the American, who was hampered by a thigh injury. The 19-year-old Iga Swiatek, is also the lowest-ranked woman to win the title and had earlier won a junior grand slam.

Naomi Osaka Wins US Open 2020 Title; First Asian to Win 3 Grand Slams
On September 13, Naomi Osaka won her second US Open title and third Grand Slam title after beating Victoria Azarenka with 1-6,6-3,6-3. US Open: Sumit Nagal Enters Second Round; 1st Indian in 7 years
