Cloud Brightening Technique To Prevent Coral Bleaching: Australia
To save the Great-Barrier Reef, scientists are sprinkling droplets of ocean water into the sky. Annually, high temperatures and warm waters bleach the corals of the Australian reef. "If we do it over an extended period for a few weeks to a couple of months when the corals are experiencing a marine heatwave, we can start to lower the water temperature over the Reef," explained Daniel Harrison project-head.

UNESCO Claims Australia's Great Barrier Reef To Be Listed Under "In Danger"
World Heritage Site, Great Barrier Reef in Australia should listed under "In Danger" list according to UNESCO. This development will be proposed during next month's meeting which may pressurize Australia, which has been reluctant to comply, to take immediate measures. After the first proposal in 2017, Canberra donated $2.2 billion to improve the reef but global warming, caused by fossil fuel burning has degraded it further.

Coral Reef Taller Than Eiffel Tower Found In Australia
A huge, detached coral reef taller than the Empire State Building and Eiffel Tower has been discovered in the Great Barrier Reef by Australian scientists. The blade-like reef, which is the first discovery in 120 years, is 500 meters tall and 1.5 kilometers wide and located 40 meters below the ocean surface. Great Barrier Reef Witnesses 50% Decline In Coral Reefs Since 1990s
According to a study by the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, the coral reefs in the Great Barrier Reef have declined by around 50% since 1990s. The study which was conducted between 1995-2017 has attributed the decline to climate change. Reportedly, Great Barrier Reef has been subjected to many mass bleaching instances and experts warn, “There is no time to lose -- we must sharply decrease greenhouse gas emissions ASAP.”
