NGT Orders To Lay Underground Cables To Protect Great Indian Bustard
The National Green Tribunal has ordered all the renewable power projects to lay underground power transmission to protect the Great Indian Bustard. Rajasthan: NGT Sends Notice to Authorities Over Endangering GIB Habitat
The National Green Tribunal has slapped notices to Rajasthan government and Environment Ministry on building grid sub-station and transmission lines in Jaisalmer's forests, a habitat to endangered Great Indian Bustard (GIB). Alleged of violating Forest Act, 1980 and Biodiversity Act, 2002, the tribunal sought responses from authorities within six weeks. The issue sparked after a GIB died after colliding with power lines.
