Gujarat Govt Faces Challenge Of Restoration Works In Cyclone Biparjoy Affected Villages

After fighting the severe 'Cyclone Biparjoy' the Gujarat Administration and Government need to face a bigger challenge of re-establishment. Due to the 10 days Cyclone, the coastal region of the State, including Kutch, Morbi and other regions, is devastated with major loss of properties and lives. Of other challenges, the immediate one is to restore electricity for 300 villages and clearing roads, blocked with uprooted trees and others.

In a hope to gang rape victim Bilkis Bano, the Supreme Court (SC) agreed to form a larger special bench to review the petition, challenging the pre-mature release of 11 accused in the 2002 Bilkis Bano Rape Case. SC Issues Notice To Gujarat Govt, Hears Bilkis Bano Gang Rape PILs

The Supreme Court reviewed three Public Interest Litigations (PIL) filed against the release of 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano gang-rape case. On August 25, the SC issued a notice to the BJP-led Gujarat Government for the release of the convicts, demanding a reply and adjourned the matter after two weeks. The case was heard by a bench headed by CJI NV Ramana, who is to retire on August 26.

SC Sends Notice To Gujarat Government In Response To Asaram Bapu's Bail Application

Supreme Court has given the Gujarat government notice in response to a petition for bail filed by self-described godman Asaram Bapu, who cited his advanced age and failing health as reasons. A bench of Justices asked Gujarat for a response and scheduled the case for hearing on September 7.
