Speeding Car Rams Into Parked Truck In Assam; 3 Dead

In Assam’s Kamrup (Metro) district, a speeding car rammed into a parked truck on October 6. The accident reportedly occurred on the roadside on National Highway 37 (NH37) at Nazirakhat area near Sonapur, which is about 25 kms from Guwahati. The incident left three persons dead, including the driver of the car, who died on the spot. The bodies were immediately sent for post-mortem.

Assam’s Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve Now Open For Tourists

The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve situated in Assam, was opened for tourists on October 2. Reportedly, the park is partially open for keep safari in two ranges- Kaziranga Range, Kohora and Western Range in Bagori. The park was officially reopened for tourists this season (2022-23), by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Sadhguru on September 23. Furthermore, CM Sarma also unveiled three rhino statues at Kaziranga’s Mihimukh.

Massive Fire Breaks Out At Benelli & Isuzu Showroom In Assam’s Guwahati

In Assam’s capital city of Guwahati, a massive fire broke out at Benelli and Isuzu showroom near Basistha, on September 7. The incident has left the premises completely gutted in fire, and all vehicles have been destroyed. The sales executive manager said that Isuzu cars worth Rs 1.5 crore were burnt, and Benelli bikes worth Rs 6-7 lakhs were destroyed. Reportedly a total loss of Rs 4-5 crore was caused.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Arrested For Demanding Bribe In Assam

Assam's Directorate of Vigilance and anti-corruption caught Assistant Sub-Inspector Sabin Pal Das red-handed for demanding bribe, on August 7. The arrested took place after a complaint was filed at Matia police station, alleging that Das demanded bribe for mitigating pending cases. When the complainant found himself unable to pay the bribe, he filed a complaint. Further details are awaited.

1 Lakh Yaba Tablets Seized In Guwahati, Police Arrest Four: Assam

Assam police seized contraband drugs worth Rs 5-8 crore and arrested four members from an international drug network, on June 30.
