While replying to a question in Lok Sabha, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri revealed that 255 districts and 1,597 blocks are facing water crisis in the country. The data also shows that 756 urban local bodies are water-stressed in India. The reasons for the shortage of water are mainly the increase in population, exploitation of groundwater and, inefficient use of available water, said Singh in his statement.     

Amidst the new COVID-19 strain fear spreading in the country, the Centre on December 30 extended the ban on flights originating from the UK till January 7. The Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that Vande Bharat is a mission of "hopes and happiness" and so far over 16.25 lakh people have been benefited with this. The ministry added that on September 13 about 4,170 people returned. Vande Bharat mission, which is currently in its sixth phase, was started with an aim to get back Indians stranded in different countries owing to the pandemic.
