Haridwar Schools To Be Closed From July 20 To July 26 Due To Kanwar Yatra

Haridwar district magistrate in Uttarakhand on July 17 issued a six-day holiday from July 20 to July 26 for all of the district's schools and Anganwadi centers due to growing number of Kanwar Yatra pilgrims and potential road closures for procession. An annual pilgrimage by followers of Lord Shiva called "Kanwar Yatra" began on July 14. The pilgrimage resumes this year after a two-year hiatus because of the Coronavirus outbreak.

VHP To Hold Meeting In Haridwar on June 11-12

Haridwar Bans Holy Ganga Dip On 'Makar Sankranti' Amid Covid-19 Surge

Amid rising cases of Covid-19, the Haridwar administration has banned holy Ganga dip on the occasion of 'Makar Sankranti' i.e., January 14. "Night curfew will also be imposed from 10 pm to 6 am," ordered the District Magistrate. Residents of the state will also not be allowed in the area of 'Har Ki Podi'. However, under Epidemic Disease Act 1879, action will be taken if anyone violates the above norms.

Uttarakhand Police Files FIR Against Wasim Rizvi Over Hate Speech

Uttarakhand police registered a case against Wasim Rizvi, who recently turned Hindu, named as "Harbir Singh Narayan Tyagi".  The case has been registered under the Section 153A of IPC, for his " Hate Speech" at an event in Haridwar, Uttrakhand. As per police they filed the FIR taking cognizance of hate speech video, which is going viral on social media. Notably, Rizvi allegedly gave provocation speech against a specific religion.

CDS General Rawat's Ashes To Be Immersed In Uttarakhand's Haridwar

Owing to the death of Chief Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika's ashes were collected by their daughters Kritika and Tarini on December 11. Reportedly, the ashes will be immersed in Uttarakhand's Haridwar, collected from the Bar Square crematorium in Delhi. Earlier on December 8, Rawat, his wife along with 11 others had lost their lives in a military helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu.

80 Out Of 160 Samples Taken Come Out Positive For Dengue: Haridwar

According to the samples taken from the Gadharona Village of Roorkee, it has been found that the village has been a major hotspot for dengue in the Haridwar District. Residents claimed that around 200 cases have been detected. Health officials said that they have intensified the drive against victor-borne diseases, but however villagers are alleging that the administration has turned a deaf ear against their complaint made on October 4.

Uttarakhand's Kanwar Yatra Halted By State Government

In light of the Covid-19 situation, the Uttarakhand government has decided to postpone this year's Kanwar Yatra on July 13. The decision to suspend the Yatra was taken by the CM Mr.Pushkar Singh Dhami after concluding his meeting with senior state officials. Mr. Dhami has also recommended officials from neighboring states coordinate and take strong measures to limit the pandemic.

Uttarakhand: Kanwar Yatra Cancelled Due To Covid-19

The annual Kanwar Yatra in Uttarakhand has been scrapped in the wake of the second COVID-19 wave.
