Hero Collabs With Ramakrishna Mission To Support COVID Care Centre

Automaker Hero MotoCorp on April 28 partnered with Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama and Haridwar's district administration to support a 122-bed COVID hospital. The company will support Sevashrama's healthcare infrastructure and increase the level of emergency medical facilities. Besides, Hero will also provide personal scooters and bikes to the healthcare workers for their safe travel to and from the work place in several Indian states.

Telangana: 14-Day Quarantine Mandatory For Kumbh Mela Returnees

People returning to Telangana from Haridwar Kumbh Mela will have to undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine as the state government has issued an order regarding the same. Besides, the government has also advised to symptomatic returnees to get tested immediately. Reportedly, the state's count for COVID patients has logged 3.79 lakh as 6,206 fresh cases emerged in a single day with 29 deaths taking the total fatality count to 1,928.

'Kumbh Is over' Says Niranjani Akhada; Community Demands Apology

Niranjani Akhada, one among the 13 Akhadas participating in the Kumbh is being forced to apologize for announcing its exit. Only the CM or the Kumbh mela officers have the rights to announce "an end to Kumbh," says Mahant Dharmdas, Nirvani Ani Akhada president. Reportedly, Niranjani Akhada's Secretary Ravindra Puri had said, "The main Shahi Snan is over. Many in our akhada are showing symptoms. So, for us the Kumbh Mela is over."

U'khand CM Tirath Says Kumbh Mela Should Not Be Equated With Markaz

Laying out another controversial statement, Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat has now said that Haridwar Kumbh should not be compared with Nizamuddin Markaz congregation. When asked about second COVID-19 wave, Rawat said Kumbh is organized in open spaces while Markaz attendees were unaware of coronavirus. Besides, he also said that those attending Kumbh are "our own people" while the Markaz hosted people even from foreign land.

Former Nepalese monarch Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah made his first Haridwar visit on April 12 to take part in the Shahi Snan. Gyanendra will take the holy dip with Niranjani akhada's Kailashanand Giri and Acharya Balkrishna. Throwing light on similarity between cultures of India and Nepal, Shah said, "We should work jointly to protect them." Meanwhile, Balkrishna and Giri, at a ceremony, hoped for the restoration of monarchy in Nepal.

World's Smallest Saint Becomes Centre Of Attraction In Kumbh Mela

World's smallest saint 'Narayan Nand Giri Maharaj' has become the centre of attraction in the ongoing 'Haridwar Kumbh Mela'. The 55-year-old saint, a regular Kumbh Mela visitor, has a height of just 18 inches and weighs around 18 Kg. "People seek his blessings and they feel very nice. They take selfies with him, offer prayers," said the saint's disciple named Umesh. The Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2021 is set to end on April 30.
