Former Bigg Boss contestant, Yuvika Chaudhury was on October 18 arrested by Haryana Police for passing offensive comments against the Scheduled Caste on her social media handle. Reportedly, Yuvika used a 'casteist slur' in her video in May, which went viral on social media. "My client has joined the investigation as per the guidelines given by the High Court and she is on interim bail now," said Chaudhury's lawyer.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on October 17 said light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms will continue for the next two hours in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad. The department also issued alerts for the showers over different cities in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh region. Reportedly, the rainfall will help to improve Delhi's air quality which has become 'very poor' due to stubble burning in the neighbouring states.

Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS) chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim and four others have been declared guilty on October 8 by the special CBI court in connection with the murder of former Dera manager Ranjit Singh. Reportedly, Singh was murdered in the premises of DSS in 2002. However, CBI will declare the quantum of the sentence on October 12. Notably, Gurmeet is already in jail for the last 20 years.

Centre, on October 2, decided to start procurement in Punjab and Haryana from October 3. Haryana CM Manohar Lal said, “at many places, protests have been organised demanding early procurement. I hope that the farmers will now stop their protest”. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi also said the Centre has allowed the State to start paddy procurement from October 3.

Haryana government has decided to extend the ongoing ban on the sale and manufacture of gutkha and pan masala for another year, starting from September 7, to continue till September 2022. Reportedly, the government took the decision in the wake of COVID-19 infection as it wants to stop people from spitting in public places. The order also allowed the authorities to take legal action against violators.

The protesting farmers have refused to attend a meeting to be convened on September 19 by the Haryana government to discuss the opening of border passage to Delhi. Since November 2020, farmers near the Singhu and Tikri border have been blocking the highway (NH-44) in protest of the new agricultural laws enacted by the center. Besides, farmers blamed Delhi police for obstructing access to the city's highways through barricading.

During the visit, teachers help them in their studies and counsel them on how to take bathe, put on their clothes, etc. However, a teacher said ''it's a pleasure to meet these kids'' but "sometimes they face problems with alcoholic parents".
Haryana government on September 7 decided to extend the temporary ban on mobile internet and SMS services in Karnal district following the farmers' "non-stop" protest against the administration's "lathi-charge" on August 28. Reportedly, the farmers demanded an FIR against those 'who ordered the lathi-charge'. ''We've captured the gate of mini secretariat...it's up to the government now as to when they want to talk,'' said Rakesh Tikait.
