Punjab & Haryana HC: Muslim Girls Can Marry Of Their Own Free Will At 16
Punjab and Haryana High Court on June 20 declared that a Muslim girl above the age of 16 is eligible to enter into a marriage contract with a person of her preference citing Sharia Law. The ruling was issued in response to petition filed by Pathankot-based Muslim couple aged 16 and 21 years seeking protection from court. The court has ordered the SSP Pathankot to provide the couple with security.

Punjab, Haryana HC Stays Arrest Of Former AAP Leader Vishwas Kumar
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) former leader Vishwa Kumar's arrest has been stayed by the Punjab and Haryana HC on May 2. The single bench led by Justice Anoop Chitkara reviewed a petition filed by Kumar, demanding to quash FIR registered against him, Notably, Kumar made inflammatory statements and alleged Delhi CM Kejriwal of supporting separatists during the 2022 Punjab elections. Furthermore, the matter has been adjourned to July 4.
