The Hisar police of Haryana has arrested a man for allegedly raping his minor daughter for over seven years. The 17-year-old also accused her father for impregnating her several times and forcing for abortions. Haryana Police detained former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and several other Congress leaders marching to extend their support to the farmers' protests on January 15. Observing the day as ‘Kisan Adhikar Diwas’, the protesting leaders marched towards the Raj Bhawan where they were stopped by placing barricades and using water cannons. Meanwhile, the hike in fuel prices was highlighted by the Congress leaders during the protest.
Haryana has achieved its 2020’s target of sex-ratio at birth (SRB) despite COVID-19 challenges. Assisted by 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' programme, the state SRB for 2020 stood at 922 female births per 1000 males. While the 2014 figure recorded a SRB of 914, statistics of 2019 improved to record 923, decade highest for Haryana. Calling it an outstanding achievement, CM Manohar Lal Khattar has set a target of 935+ SRB for 2021.
The meeting of Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar with the farmers in Karnal village was called off on January 10 after a clash between the state police and the farmers. Animal Husbandry Minister Sanjeev Balyan on January 6 said the spreading bird flu could be transmitted to human however no such case has been reported in the country. Warning people about the non-preventive nature of flu, he informed the states had been asked to take preventive measures including timely sampling and safe disposal of dead avians. Moreover, he informed a central control room has been created at the department in Delhi.

In the recently conducted Haryana Municipal Elections, the BJP could manage to win only one mayoral seat out of the three contested. The BJP won only Panchkula seat while the Congress and Haryana Jan Chetna Party bagged Sonipat and Ambala seats respectively. A 60-year-old man Satyadev Manjhi had cycled from Bihar's Siwan to join the farmers' protest in Tikri at the Delhi-Haryana border. As the protests of agitating farmers have entered the 23rd day in Delhi, Satyadev had reached the protest on December 17. Reportedly, he had travelled a distance of 1000 Km in about 11 days. Satyadev said, "I urge the government to take back the three farm laws."
