MP MLA Court Acquits SP Leader Azam Khan In Hate Speech
In a major relief for the Samajwadi Party, the MP-MLA Court Session acquitted leader Azam Khan in the 2019 Defamation Case. Notably, a Uttar Pradesh court convicted Khan for his hate speech during a public rally. The judgement reversing the order of the lower court, was a major victory for the SP in the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh Government. Khan, the then SP MLA from the Rampur Sadar seat was convicted.

SC Asks States, UTs To File Suo Moto In Hate Speech Cases
In a cour hearing, the Supreme Court, asked the states and UTs to register a suo-moto case against hate speech, irrespective of religion. On April 28, the Top Court extended its application of October 22, in which the court directed Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Uttarakhand Police to file suo-moto case against hate speeches. The orders has been extended to other states and UTs as well, confirmed sources.

OCI Card Of Kannada Actor Chetan Kumar Cancelled By MHA
In a breaking news, the FRRO cancelled the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card of Kannada actor Chetan Kumar. Getting into the details, jis card cancellation came after his "Hindutva" remark. German Court Fines Twitter For Violation, Hate Speech Comments
Twitter after the take over is making headlines constantly, for all the wrong reasons, including several lawsuits and cases. In one such matter, the German Court fined the micro-blogging site for all the hate speech cases. Notably, in a German court, there are over 600 hate speech cases, which are fined. interestingly, the fine of 50 Million Euros per case is said to be over the net worth of Twitter.

SC Orders Govt To Provide Information On State's Anti-Hate Speech Laws
Supreme Court directed the Centre on July 21 to provide it with information on the preventative, corrective, and remedial actions taken by state governments thus far in accordance with its previous hate speech judgments within six weeks. A bench of Justices directed the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs to collect the material into a pamphlet. SC was considering appeals against claimed hate speech directed at a certain population.

Alt News Co-Founder Mohammad Zubair Granted Bail In 2018 Tweet Case
Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair has been granted bail by a Delhi court, on July 15. Zubair was granted bail upon furnishing personal bond and surety of Rs 50,000. Zubair was arrested on June 27, over a Tweet he made in 2018, which sparked sudden controversy. PC George Granted Bail In Hate Speech Case By Kerala HC
Former MLA PC George who was arrested over alleged hate speech and sent to judicial remand on May 26, has been granted bail by Kerala High Court, on May 27. Reportedly, the bail was granted considering his health issues and his status as former MLA. Ex MLA PC George Arrested Over Alleged Hate Speech: Kerala
Former MLA PC George has been arrested by Kerala police in an alleged hate speech case, on May 26. Following the arrest, he was shifted from Kochi to Trivandrum, and will be produced before a court. The arrest has come after George's alleged hate speech against Muslims in Anantapuri Hindu Maha Sammelan, on April 30. "I haven't done anything wrong. I have respect for the law," said George.

SC Asks Uttarakhand Govt To Ensure 'No Hate Speeches' During Dharm Sansad Event
After Uttarakhand government allowed Dharm Sansad event despite prior notice, the Supreme Court expressed its dissatisfaction on the matter, on April 26. Also, at the event which is to be held in Roorkee, the apex court also asked the chief secretary to ensure that "no hate speeches are made". The Supreme Court also asked a top official to file and affidavit, explaining the preventing measures taken.
