UK Health Secretary, Finance Minister Resign; UK PM Boris Johnson Declares New Name
Shortly after UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak and UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid submitted their resignation letters on July 4, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson appointed new UK Health Secretary and Finance Minister. Steve Barclay, the UK Cabinet chief of staff, has been nominated as the country's new health secretary. Nadhim Zahawi, the UK education secretary, has been appointed as the country's new finance minister.

Himachal Pradesh Reports 1st Case Of Omicron, Says Health Secretary
Himachal Pradesh's Health Secretary Amitabh Avasthi on December 25 said that the state reported its first case of COVID-19's Omicron variant in a 45-year-old woman in Mandi district. He further stated that the woman recovered from the virus on December 24. Reportedly, the woman came to the district from Canada on December 3 and was in isolation. She tested positive for the new variant on December 12.
