20 Healthcare Workers Of LNJP Hospital Test COVID-19 Positive

At least 20 healthcare workers of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) government hospital, Delhi tested COVID-19 positive, on January 6. The Medical Director of LNJP Dr. Suresh Kumar said that 20 patients include 11 doctors, eight nurses, and one sanitation worker. He expressed concern and said, "If our workforce gets affected then it may affect our fight against COVID-19". Notably, the hospital hired 25% additional staff for COVID-19 patients.

Delhi Government To Nominate Doctors, Healthcare Workers For Padma Awards

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on July 27 that the Delhi government is going to nominate the names only of doctors and health workers to the Center for the Padma awards. The CM issued an email address, [email protected] – where people can forward their recommendations. The names will be shortlisted and finalized by the committee led by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Medical Staffs Rescues 87-year-old Woman Abandoned By Family: Manipur

Wahengbam Shakhi Dev, an 87-year-old woman was taken under the care of the district health society on humanitarian grounds after she was abandoned by her family on being tested positive for Covid-19. Hailing from Manipur's Kaching district, she was admitted to a temporary isolation ward-cum-Covid care center on June 16. Besides, she was barely able to walk due to low oxygen when the staff found her.

As the residents of Philippines have been defying to get vaccinated, the president, Rodrigo Duterte has used very strong words to get them agree. Duterte said, ''If you don't want to get vaccinated, I'll have you arrested and I'll inject the vaccine in your butt.'' However, the country has no law which criminalises refusal to get vaccinated. Meanwhile, Philippines has become the COVID hotspot in Asia with around 23,749 deaths.

Google Aids To Set Up 80 Oxygen Plants And Upskill Health Workers Worth Rs 133 Crore

Google on June 17 has announced a grant of Rs 133 crores to procure and install 80 oxygen generation plants and upskilling of healthcare workers through various organizations in India. For the oxygen needs in the rural areas, Google will issue grants worth Rs 90 crore to GiveIndia and about Rs 18.5 crore to PATH. Apollo Medskill will also receive aid to train 20,000 frontline health workers specialized in COVID-19.

India Administered More Than 26-crore Vaccines In The Country So Far

Health Ministry on June 15 said that India has gone beyond the mark of 26 crores for COVID-19 vaccination dose, provided to 18-44 age groups. According to a report, around 13 lakh people registered for first dose of vaccine while only 54,375 people signed for second dose. However, among the healthcare and frontline workers approximately one crore people vaccinated for first jab and only around 70 thousand took the second one.

CSIR-IIP Develops Oxygen Enrichment Units; 500 Litres Of Oxygen In 60 Seconds

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP), Dehradun unveiled oxygen enrichment units that can produce 500 litres of medical-grade oxygen per minute. Shekar Mande, the Director-General of CSIR said that the oxygen deployment could be possible within two to three weeks. Currently, CSIR-IIP is associated with Gaskon Engineering Company to increase the scale the production.
