IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Heatwaves In Hyderabad

After rains in Hyderabad, the city is set to witness extreme heat and heatwaves for the next five days, confirmed the Hyderabad Weather Department. In addition, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) also issued a yellow alert for the citizens of Hyderabad, asking them to take the necessary health precaution, as the temperature in the State is likely to rise to 40 degrees Celsius.

No Plans To Import Wheat From Different Countries, Clarifies Govt

Dismissing the reports of food grains import, the Union Government and Department of Food & Public Distribution said, India has no plans of importing wheat. On August 21, the government said, "The country has sufficient stocks to meet our domestic requirements and FCI has enough stock for public distribution". Although severe heat waves earlier this year affected crops, especially wheat, there is no shortage in India for people.

Thunderstorm Anticipated On August 15 To End UK Heatwave

United Kingdom heatwave is likely to stop on August 15, according to Met Office forecasts. Except for the north of Scotland, the Met Office has issued yellow alerts for thunderstorms until August 16. The Met Office predicts that rain will fall on the ground and flow off, perhaps causing flash floods. The unexpected shift in weather is caused by a change in air pressure, Dan Stroud, Met Office meteorologist stated.

Spain Experiences Heatwave, Wildfires Continue Spreading

Since the onset of the heatwave a week ago, wildfires have burned over 22,000 hectares of woods and brush throughout Spain. Temperatures in southern and southwestern Spain exceed 44 degrees Celsius, while the remainder of the nation averages about 40 degrees Celsius. So far, no fatalities have been recorded as a result of the flames, but three firefighters have been sent to the hospital for treatment.

Delhi's Maximum Temperature Reaches 42 Degrees Celsius, Highest Since 2012: IMD

According to the India Meteorological Department, Delhi has seen 25 days with a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius this summer season, the most since 2012. With a monthly average maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius, Delhi had its second warmest April since 1951. This year, the city has had six heatwaves, the deadliest of which occurred in mid-May, when temperatures reached 49 degrees Celsius in certain areas.

Mumbai In Relief From Heat Amid Southwestern Monsoon's Arrival

Mumbai and the Konkan region of Maharashtra witnessed relief from scorching heat as the southwestern monsoon arrived in the City, on June 12. The forecast confirmed Mumbai rains, cloudy skies and thunderstorms in the city, and heavy rainfall in isolated places.
