Herat Witnesses Surge In Poverty After Taliban Took Over Afghanistan

In the new Taliban regime, Afghanistan's Herat which is considered the third-largest city in the country, reported a high rate of the poverty rate and unemployment. It has affected many people and led them to eat carrots and vegetables as food. "The demands are high. But the assistance of disaster management department is limited,'' said Sayed Habib Rahman Ruhani, head of the provincial disaster management authority.

Taliban Hangs Bodies Of Kidnappers Publicly To Instill Fear: Afghanistan

Brutally, the Taliban publicly hanged four bodies, accused of kidnapping in a city square in Afghanistan's Herat from a crane on September 25, reminiscing the late 1990s. This action aims to alert all criminals that "they aren't safe", said a Taliban commander. Reportedly, the Taliban has brought four bodies, and the rest were moved to hang in other parts of the city. Biden administration expressed displeasure over Taliban actions.

Taliban Seizes Afghanistan's Kandahar, Herat

Following the US decision to withdraw its forces from Afghanistan in 2020, the Taliban captured Afghanistan's second-biggest city Kandahar and also the third-largest city Herat on August 12. Reportedly, at least 12 out of 34 administrative centers of Afghan provinces were seized. Meanwhile, the United States has decided to deploy 3,000 troops in Afghanistan to evacuate the US Embassy in Kabul.
