Karnataka High Court Wishes To Dispose Hijab Case By This Week

Amid the ongoing Hijab row, Karnataka High Court on February 22, stated that the court wishes to dispose the case by this week. During the court proceedings, the counsel for the petitioners requested a relaxation for the girls, allowing them to wear Hijab in schools and colleges. Chief Justice Ritu Raj Aswathi said, "make all endeavours to finish this case by the end of this week".

PUC, Degree Colleges To Reopen In Bengaluru, Udupi: Karnataka Hijab Row

The Karnataka government announced to reopen its pre-University and degree colleges in Udupi & Bangalore from February 16. The High schools have also been reopened, following protests and violence over the hijab row. However, the Karnataka High Court, in its interim order, prohibited all the students from wearing saffron shawls or hijab till the final ruling. Moreover, Police force has been posted in Udupi to maintain law and order.

SC Refuses Urgent Hearing On Hijab Row Issue Challenging Karnataka HC

The Supreme Court, on February 11, refused an "urgent hearing" on Karnataka Hijab row. On February 10, the three panel HC bench issued an interim order, restraining students from wearing religious attire until matter resolved and adjourned to February 14. Challenging the order, students filed a petition. However, CJI NV Ramana said, "Don't spread these things to a national level. We will interfere only at an appropriate time".

Karnataka HC Asks Students 'Not To Insist' Wearing Hijab; Adjourns To Feb 14

Karnataka HC is continuing to review the "Hijab Row", on February 10. Amid the ongoing issue, the court also asked students not to wear religious attire until the matter is pending. A three bench panel headed by Chief Justice Ritu Raj Aswathi reviewed the matter and adjourned the case to February 14. Till the HC disposes the case, "you people should not insist on wearing religious things," CJ Aswathi said.
