India To Play Spain In FIH Women's Hockey World Cup Crossover Game To Advance To Quarterfinals

At the FIH Women's Hockey World Cup, the Indian Women's Hockey Team ranked third in Pool B. On July 10 at Terrassa, Spain, they will play Spain in the FIH Women's Hockey World Cup crossover game for a spot in the quarterfinal. Before losing narrowly, 3-4, to New Zealand in their pool round match, the Indian squad, captained by goalkeeper Savita, competed to two exhilarating draws against England and China.

Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship Starts In Goa

Twelfth Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship starts on May 4 in Goa. A total of 29 will be fighting during Eight days of Pool Matches. Quarter-Finals on May 12, Semi-Finals on May 14, and Medel Matches are scheduled on May 15. Participating teams are divided into eight pools. Members and Coaches of each team are working hard and are excited about the Championship.

Former Indian Hockey Captain Charanjit Singh Dies Of Cardiac Arrest

Legendary hockey player and former Indian captain Charanjit Singh, who represented India as captain in 1964 Tokyo Olympics gold medal-winning team, died on January 27 in Himachal Pradesh, after suffering a cardiac arrest, that followed prolonged illnesses. He was 90 years old, and was paralysed after suffering a stroke five years back. Singh is survived by two sons and one daughter. Reportedly, his last rites are yet to be performed.

Men's Hockey Junior World Cup To Be Held Without Spectators

Hockey India and FIH have jointly decided to hold the FIH Odisha men's Hockey Junior World Cup Bhubaneswar 2021 without the presence of spectators, starting from November 24. The decision was taken to avoid the crowd amid the menace of Covid-19 infection. Reportedly, 16 teams from different countries will fight for the title. The classification matches will start on November 30 and the final is scheduled for December 5.

India V/s Germany: Men's Hockey Tournament For Bronze Medal At Tokyo Olympics

India men’s hockey team will challenge Germany on August 5 for the Bronze medal match after Germany was defeated by Australia by 3-1. Australian player Tim Brand scored a goal within seven minutes of the match. Although Germany made use of the penalty corner when Lukas Windfeder scored a goal, however, it was not enough to defeat Australia. Australia will be playing against Belgium for the gold medal on August 5.

Ex-Hockey Player, Coach MK Kaushik Hospitalised After Contracting COVID

Former Indian Hockey player and coach MK Kaushik was hospitalised on April 24 after detecting chest infections in a CT scan. While Kaushik’s oxygen level is currently fluctuating his wife is also admitted and is recovering steadily. Training both senior men’s and women’s team, it was Kaushik only under whose coaching Men’s and women’s hockey team won the 1998 Asian Games and 2006 Doha Asian Games respectively.
