Goods Train Hits Wild Elephant Causing Death In Assam’s Hojai
In Assam’s Hojai district, a Wilde elephant was killed after being hit by a goods train in the evening of September 8. The incident occurred near Hawaipur, at around 6:20 pm, when the animal tried to cross the train tracks. Railway CPRO said that “The elephant was hit by a cement-laden goods train. After getting dashed, the elephant fell down on the track”.

Police Arrest 4 Persons & Seize Fake Currency Machines: Assam
In two separate operations, the Assam police have arrested four persons and seized two fake currency making machines, informed police on September 9. The arrests were made in Nagaon and Hojai districts. The arrested persons include Jalal Uddin (35), Vanlalruati (42) and Zoramchhani (40) from Nagaon. And from Hojai, Abdul Jalil was arrested. Various fake currencies were also seized. Further details are awaited.

Parents Use Boat To Take Children To School: Assam Floods
In Assam's Dhemaji district, parents were seen taking their children to a primary school in boat, since the area has been flooded. A teacher of the school stated that there are about 29 students in the school, and due to the flood situation, some are not able to turn up. Reportedly, 2.88 lakh people have been affected in Nagaon, 1.22 lakh in Cachar and 1.07 lakh in Hojai.
