People Celebrate 'Bhairon Jhanki' Festival Ahead Of Holi In J&K's Rajour

Following the decades-old tradition, people of Rajouri celebrated the 'Bhairon Jhanki' Festival in J&K, ahead of Holi. The festival lasts for eight days, where a person plays the role of Bhairon Baba, as a part of Jhanki. However, people believe that celebrating this festival will keep you away from disease and fear. "Since the festival has started, this place has not witnessed a drought," a local resident said.

40-day Long Holi Celebration Begins In Mathura: Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, the 40-day long Holi celebration has begun at Guru Sharanand Ashram in Raman Reti of Gokul. The devotes celebrates the festival with Abir Gulal, flower petals, and sweet laddoos. "From lath marr holi to pholo ki holi, everything is celebrated here," said a devotee. "Celebrating Holi with Thakurji (God) here in Raman Reti on this auspicious occasion is luck for everyone present here," said a saint.

7 UP Boys Drown In River While Taking Bath After Holi Festivities

In a tragic incident, seven people drowned in Uttar Pradesh on March 29 while taking bath post Holi celebrations. Among the deceased, five belonged to Deoria and two to Fatehpur district. While the deceased from Deoria drowned in the Chhoti Gandak and Saryu rivers in two different mishaps, the Fatehpur accident took place in river Ganga.
