Heavy Rains & High Tide Causes Waterlogging: Kolkata
A downpour in the early hours of 17 June caused waterlogging in many parts of Kolkata with the Hooghly river's high tide accelerating the issue. A senior official at KMC stated the southern and western parts of Kolkata experienced heavy rains with an IMD report of 144mm rainfall. The storm water lock-gates of Hooghly has been kept shut due to the river overflowing resulting in knee-deep floods across several areas.

Kolkata Gets Its First Boat Library; Offers City Tour While Reading
Kolkata now has its first boat library cruising on the Hooghly river with about 500 English and Bengali books. The initiative was jointly launched by a heritage book store and the State Transport Corporation. The boat library named 'Young Readers' Boat Library' will carry bibliophiles for a three-hour round-trip between Millenium Park and Belur Math jetty.
