Hotels, Restaurants And Bars Can't Levy Service Charges On Food Bills, Guidelines Issued

Amid complaints from consumers, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) on July 4, issued a set of guidelines for bars and hotels.  Under the guidelines, the hotels and restaurants can't levy service charges automatically or by default in food bills, allowing customers to file complaints in case of violation. The decision will curb unfair trade practices and violation of consumer rights in service charges, which are usually 10%.

Kerala Lifts Covid-19 Restrictions, Allows 100% Occupancy At Theatres & Bars

In view of declining Covid-19 cases in the state, the Kerala government on February 27, has decided to lift Covid-19 restrictions in the state. The government has decided to allow 100% occupancy in theatres, bars, hotels, and restaurants. Meanwhile, the government and private offices can hold offline meetings and training, the order stated. Notably, on February 25, Kerala reported 3,581 new Covid-19 cases.

Hotels In Kabul Are Threat To Life, Warn US & UK To Citizens

Citing the risk of life, America and Britain on October 11 issued a new advisory for its citizens to warn them against staying in any hotels, especially in Serena Hotel in Afghanistan's Kabul. ''You (Citizens) are advised not to stay in hotels, particularly in Kabul,'' the UK Foreign Office said. While the US State Department said, ''US citizens who're at or near the Serena Hotel should leave immediately.''

Mumbai: Restaurants Allowed To Deliver Food After 11 PM on Dec 31

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on December 31 allowed the hotels and restaurants of Mumbai to remain open even after 11 PM. However, they can remain opened only till 1.30 AM and, above all, they can take orders only for home deliveries after 11 PM. Moreover, the BMC directed that the COVID-19 protocol should be adhered in its entirety. Reportedly, around 30,000 police personnel and several drones have been deployed for the purpose.… read-more
