A female IAS officer has been attracting controversy for verbally attacking a schoolgirl who had a query on the prices of sanitary pads. In a program run by Bihar government, schoolgirl asked an IAS officer if the government can provide sanitary pads at lower price. Annoyed IAS Officer replied, “you will eventually hope that the government will give you condoms for family planning?”.

In Rajasthan, ten IAS officials were transferred under the administrative reshuffle. On August 27 night, the Congress-led Rajasthan Government decided to transfer the officials and issued an order in this regard. Some of the IAS who were transferred are Ajitabh Sharma, Avichal Chaturvedi, Sudhir Kumar Sharma, Rohit Gupta, Kumari Renu Jaipal, Pushpa Satyani, Pukhraj Sen, Mukul Sharma, Dr Amit Yadav and Atul Prakash.
Parameswaran Iyer took charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog, on July 11. Known for spearheading the implementation of the flagship USD 20 billion Swachh Bharat Mission, Iyer is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 1981-batch, Uttar Pradesh cadre. He has worked with both the public and private sectors, and prior was a secretary in the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation during 2016-20.

Supreme Court bench led by Justice AM Khanwilkar disposed a plea filed by three UPSC aspirants who missed their attempt due to COVID-19 pandemic. The court directed the authorities to reconsider the representation of the UPSC aspirants who got deprived of the attempt, due to COVID-19. The petitioners in their plaint, requested the court to grant them compensatory attempt, to clear the exam.
UPSC 2020 result was announced on September 25. Shubham Kumar got All India-1st rank. Pooja Kadam from Maharashtra Latur district secured 577th rank in UPSC Civil Services Exam. The 30-year-old secured this rank in her second attempt, with just 15% eyesight. She has graduated from Fergusson College in Pune and completed her post-graduation in Political Science from Indira Gandhi National Open University, Delhi.
Bihar's 24-year-old Shubham Kumar secured the first position in the Civil services exam in his third attempt on September 25. Kumar, a graduate of IIT Bombay, said, ''My father used to motivate me a lot helped in maintaining a positive attitude.'' ''I'd like to work for underprivileged people, '' Kumar added. Besides, Madhya Pradesh's 24-year-old Jagrati Awasthi secured the second position and credited her brother for inspiration.

Indian Para badminton, Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, has become the first-ever IAS officer to win silver in men's singles SL4 class final at the Tokyo Paralympics on September 5. Yathiraj lost his final against France's Lucas Mazur following a 62-minute summit clash after defeating Indonesia's Fredy Setiawan in the semifinal. Yathiraj is posted as a DM of Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida) and has a disability due to an impairment in the ankle.

Actor Sonu Sood announced his new initiative "SAMBHAVAM", on June 11. Under this program, Sood promises to provide free coaching scholarship opportunities to those who wish to join the civil services. The actor tweeted, “Karni hai IAS ki tayyari, Hum lenge aapki zimmedari” (If you wish to prepare for IAS, we will take your responsibility). Anyone can submit their application by June 30.
