Vessel Capsizes Off Coast Of Puerto Rico: 11 Dead, 31 Rescued

A vessel capsized off the coast of Puerto Rico on May 11, killing 11 people and rescuing 31 others. According to the US Coast Guard, the vessel was anticipated of taking part in an "illegal migrant voyage." The majority of the passengers on the boat were said to be Haitians. The Coast Guard and its partner agencies are continuing to respond whilst the number of individuals on board remains unknown.

Around 2,000 Honduras Migrants Enter Guatemala, Hope to Reach US

Nearly 2,000 migrants from Central America’s Honduras, with a view to proceed to the United States, reached Guatemala on October 1. Traveling by foot, they entered newly opened borders of Guatemala, which had been closed owing to the pandemic. UK Faces Record Number of Migrant Crossings In September

The United Kingdom has recorded nearly 1880 migrants reaching its land in September, almost equal to the number that arrived in the whole of 2019. Authorities stated that the favorable warm weather and calm seas in the English channel led to a surge in the numbers. Usually, migrants take the northern France border route, through trucks or ferries. However due to COVID-19 restrictions, they sailed in small boats arranged by smugglers.
